PUBLIC RESPONSE TO BRAVO + MAGICAL ELVES I’ve issued a public response to Bravo and Magical Elves online that I would like to share with you. This is why: This copyright issue started back in April and at first I was disappointed and accepted it as if it was supposed to happen. I tried to laugh it off and was genuinely impressed when the power of the internet was enough to disrupt Bravo into renaming the title. Now that they have quietly switched back to the Gallery Girls title, my gut told me to speak up and eliminate the possibility of googling their show without hearing my story. I believe this is going to be a bigger and more complicated issue in the future for other creators on the web. I’ve thought about it for months and tried with this Op-Ed to briefly articulate what it means to walk over someone’s work. Maybe in the future someone will be able to improve upon how to deal with this type of situation. Thanks for listening. And thank you to local Bowery Boogie editor Elie Z. Perler for offering his space to do so. Also thank you to Kyle Chayka for being the first to speak up. X Mary
